Pre-Commission cleaning 'The Contractors Flush is not enough'
Many of the problems associated with Heating and Chilled Water Systems are due to corrosion of pipework and fittings, or to deposits introduced into the systems during the period of construction.
The Pre-Commission Cleaning operation is designed to remove unwanted contaminants from the pipework installation. If allowed to remain within the system, these contaminants will make the system prone to blockages at strainers, control valves and within small bore heat exchangers. They may also assist in promoting corrosion and microbiological activity within the system.
We normally specify a three stage cleaning operation based on water flush with measured velocities to ensure the complete removal of loose debris, followed by a chemical clean to loosen and dissolve surface oxides. A final flush and passivation will conclude the operation.
